Thanks to the PNW ops who put up with my QRP Rover operation from CN87/88/89.(Called CQ from CO80 for a couple of minutes, but nothing heard from Whistler,BC.)'Interesting' Events:CN87: Two QSOs on 2m made from commercial bus in motion in Seattle. One 903MHz QSO made with bus driver, VA7NAM!CN88:Two  QSOs on 2m made from commercial bus in motion in Everett, WA, including one over a 97 mile path CN89: QSOs made from 10th floor(facing North) & 19th floor (facing South)
of hotel on Vancouver, B.C. waterfront as well as Mt. Seymour Ski Lodge area (~3000 ft MSL).CO80: Nil QSO resulted.

I was a Rover in the southeast corner of Oregon to activate DN02, DN03, DN12 and DN13. This was portable operation, two grids/day. My 'distance' band was 2 meters with 750 watts and 7 element yagi, since this would probably be the only way to reach the distant metro centers in Portland (330 mi), Seattle (420 mi) and California (400 miles).  On other bands, I brought only modest equipment and HTs from 50 to 1296 MHz. We had no VHF band openings and participation within 200 miles was pretty low. I only worked one station in Boise (100 mi). It's great that Steve KE7IHG set up portable ops on Steens Mtn. Thank goodness that Rod WE7X was roving here too; he was a tremendous help scouting and operating, and we made contacts from nearby. My longest contacts were Nelson W7LUD (330 mi) and Fred WA7TZY (310 mi) on 2m. It was fun to make 40-mile contacts on 902 and 1296 using a low-power HT. A highlight of the trip was operating from Calamity Butte DN03ow at 6,700' for the last three hours of the contest, and then camping overnight on the exposed ridge. The view is tremendous in all directions, and even better from the 70' manned lookout. Eastern Oregon suffers greatly from this hot dry summer and I watched smoke rising from wildfires about 20 miles to the north. My trip was eight days and 1800 miles for driving and scouting the Oregon desert to/from Seattle. I spent Tuesday before the contest to activate CN92 from Hamaker Mountain. Quite an epic adventure! KB7ME SOHP OR CN92: Made a few contacts from remote Lakeview, in SE Oregon CN92.

KD7TS SOHP WWA CN96: Hope everyone enjoyed this as much as I. Great tropo into BC both days Did not make any contacts above 2.3 gHz, and did not even set up the 10 and 24 G stuff. Most memorable was the trip to and from Mt Burley, flat tire going up and  folded the 1296 antenna in half. Coming back down I lost the brakes at  about 4000'. Good syncros on the transmission ! Judicious use of down shifting and the E-brake got me by. Have added brake fluid to the spares

KD7UO SOLP CN96: Operation from Burley Mtn CN96 5300ft

KE7IHG SOLP DN02: Beautiful but very remote. Tough work for 19 contacts...We will go back again!

KX7L SO3B CN87: The plus side of having no Sporadic E openings (except for one K5 station calling CQ Alaska, who then disappeared (??)), and having a
defective 2m antenna, is that I got to focus a bit more on 432, where I got 10Q's and 3 grids - pretty good for me.  Every year, there seems to be a few new locals on 6, which is also encouraging.  Thanks for the Q's!

VE7AFZ/R Rover BC: Rover Grids Activated: CN89 C99 CO80  PNW Grids Worked: CN79 CN85 CN86 CN87 CN88 CN89 CN96 CN97

VE7IHL SO3B DN19: Operated from 7100 ft. mountain top in DN19KB. Location is above the Salmo-Creston higway summit in south eastern BC.

WA7BBJ SOLP CN97:  Had fun giving out points on Saturday, but family plans took over on Sunday and only had time to work K5QE and W6BBS on EME before it was time to go see the Inlaws.

WE7X/R Rover Grids Activated: DN02 DN03 DN04 DN12 DN13
PNW Grids Worked: CN94 DN02 DN03 DN12 DN13
Operated from five grids, (DN02, 03, 04, 12, and 13) mostly in the remote desert of SE Oregon.  Contacts outside those grids were scarse, with KE7IHG providing several from his perch high in the Steens Mountains (DN02). Barry K7BWH/R also in the area provided support and survey notes on possible operating locations; and of course nearly 70 of my 78 QSO's.  FM HT's and short yagis helped to provide many long range contacts on the upper bands.

I enjoyed roving around the Pacific Northwest.  No enhanced propagation, but lots of activity.   The full write-up is here: http://tinyurl.com/WW7DSepVHF15
