First time Unlimited Rover category. Team of K3RW and K4PVA; first VHF contest for K4PVA. COVID concerns changed our plans to roving instead of Limited Multioperator. Heavy rain during the contest hampered some off-road roving locations. Highway blockades impacted our ability to rove in Portland. We had planned at least 5-7 grids, but managed only CN85, CN86, and CN84. As the RF gremlins emerged, we discovered our 6m screwdriver would not tune under 3:1. We made several 6m FM QSOs then gave up on 6m until the next day. We were forced to use a 2m 5/8s whip, cross-polarized and mag mounted, as our 6m FT8 and FM antenna as well as our 2m FT8, SSB, and FM antenna. We made a contact on each band from 6m through 1296; FM-only on 223, 927, and 1296. No 902 FM activity was observed. Due to high SWR on the 2m 5/8s vertical we made no 6m SSB or CW contacts but made numerous FT8 QSOs, most while in-motion between grids. We encountered a concerned neighbor in CN84, adjacent to a vacant hillside field who said our activity appeared suspicious; a well timed CQ from another ham that was clearly audible assuaged her concerns we were somehow spying on her with electronic equipment, and rather part of an ongoing contest as we had claimed.

N7DB SOLP OR-CN85: 6M in CN85 area was more like September. Saw 6M E thru almost the rest of the country this time.

WE7X SOLP OR-CN97: Weather predictions dictated a simple and quick setup with simple antennas. Operated from a 4400 Ft. ASL ridge, about ten miles north of the summit of Mt. Rainier.

K7SMA SO3B ID-DN13: Best Score ever.

N7QOZ SO3B WWA-CN87: Really enjoy VHF contesting. Always hope for a new grid, which is a bonus, and helping PNWVHF Club scoring too. The only thing that bothers me is having to compete against stations who use digital means for contacts (FT8 etc). Would be really nice if there could be a different category for non-digital within the categories. I almost always go SO3B, which I have done pretty well with before the digital modes came along. It sometimes makes me want to not even work a contest, takes a lot of enjoyment out of contesting at least for me. I am sure there are others who feel this way too.

VE7DAY SOHP BC-CO70: I was very surprised at such a low score in a June VHF contest, but enjoyed it.

W7TZ SOHP OR-CN83: Seemed like my grid was in a propagation quagmire. Along the 43 parallel from CN83 to the Ohio Valley was near empty on PSKR, and now just 12hrs later, I'm operating coast to coast. Crazy thing this magic band. And 2m pretty much sucked, and 432, well nuff said. But I was warm and dry in my rf cereal bowl that is Myrtle Creek.

KX7L SOLP WWA-CN87: An hour before the contest, I flipped on the rig and heard a lively double hop Es opening in progress. Wouldn't you know it, by the time the contest started, the opening was over. I heard more openings during the contest, but all were too short to really capitalize on, I think I only made 3 Es contacts the whole time. Still this was my best score in several years, mostly due to a tremendous amount of local activity. Thanks for all the QSOs!

KB7IOG SOLP WWA-CN87: Enjoyed working everyone. Strong effort and fun for all.

K7ND SOHP WWA-CN87: 6m amplifier power supply quit on Friday. QRP sucks.

K5QE Limited Multi-Operator STX EM31: Operators: K5QE, N5YA, N1XS, N5KDA, W5KDA, N5NU, AF8Z.
Propagation was very poor on Sat and most of Sun. 6M did not open for us until the last 4 hours of the contest. The last two hours were really great. You just cannot make very many contacts picking around on FT8. We worked over 400 contacts on 6M in the last two hours on SSB.

K7MDL SOLP: Submitted two logs, one from his home in Florida EL87 and another from Camano Island CN88.

AL1VE/R Rover-Limited Rover NE/SD: Activated 6 Rover grids: EN04 DN73 DN84 DN84 DN93 DN94;  Worked 3 PNW grids: CN76 CN85 CN87
It had been a while since I've roved through Nebraska and South Dakota. By Saturday noon I was in mid-central South Dakota, but the rather spotty and poor propagation on 50 MHz reminded me of the PNW. On Sunday I drove to the DM73, DM74, DM83 DM84 grid corner in the Buffalo Gap National Grasslands prairie. To make that morning interesting 50 MHz conditions had picked up considerably towards the East Coast, unfortunately so did the prairie winds. By the afternoon, 35 mph gusts meant my 50MHz yagi was 12' off the ground. It wasn't till about sunset that the winds finally diminished enough to get my yagi back up the full mast height of 27'. Unfortunately, by this time conditions were really spotty. The SCal and AZ stations were popping up every now and then and my last contact of contest was Pete, N6ZE in DM04.
